

Adds support for iCloud documents and dictation. For automatic playback, you can set the duration between images. For automatic or manual playback, you can set one of three kinds of builds through the images: Appear, Dissolve, and Move In. Creating a pseudo-slideshow through builds in version 7.3 was maddening now, it’s just a drag and drop process.

You can preview this while setting it up, and then advance through the images while presenting or set it to run. Image galleries are the only new interactive feature, letting you insert and label images in a frame that can be paged through manually or as an auto-advance slideshow. For this reason, it is still useful to have Adobe Reader installed (in particular if you want to do PDF presentations with Beamer, see below). Adobe Reader 7 and 8 have comparable features, but in addition can launch plugins to display additional multimedia content embedded in the file.

With the release of Tiger, Preview is at version 3.0. This, together with its ability to display postscript files as PDF, makes the new version of Preview immensely useful. In Preview version 2.1.0 and above (comes with Tiger), you can actually select arbitrary rectangles within the PDF page and copy them. Adobe Reader does not allow this, but the built-in Preview application does.
